Things You Can Do to Stop the Seal Hunt
To help end the annual seal hunt, the largest commercial slaughter of marine mammals in the world, we need your immediate help. Here are actions you can take right now:
Contact Canadian Officials
- Urge your Senators: Support the "Harb Seal Bill" to help end the hunt! For the first time, legislation has been introduced that would end the slaughter. Tell your legislators you want it to be passed.
- Ask five key Senators to "second" the Harb Seal Bill.
- Call and email your MP. It's your MP's job to represent your views in Parliament. Ask him or her to take a stand for seals!
- Tell the Minister of International Trade that the seal hunt damages Canada's international reputation, and remind him that it has resulted in ongoing global boycotts of Canadian seafood and tourism.
- Email Prime Minister Harper.
- Urge the Minister of International Trade to respect the Belgian and Netherlands bans on the seal product trade. Tell him to stop interfering!
- Stop the slaughter of grey seals of Hay Island.
Spread the Word
- Join our Stop the Seal Hunt! Cause on Facebook.
- Email our seal campaign videos to friends or link to them from your website.
- Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper protesting the seal hunt. Click here for suggested points you can make.
